The Long Patrol -Algeria

PPE will be attempting it’s most ambitious and challenging expedition yet. In November 2026, we will be headed deep into the heart of the Algerian Sahara on an expedition that will cover over 1000 miles of deep desert.
Supported by experienced Saharan expedition operator Desartica, we will be recceing areas that few, if any, have ever explored. This will include navigation to remote resupply cache’s, examination of old French Foreign Legion forts and following in the footsteps of early desert expeditions from the late 1800’s.
This expedition will require very well-prepared vehicles, fairly fit crew and a sense of humor to keep you going when the going gets tough…and it will.

The Sand Sea Circumnavigation
Tunisia
21 March to 04 April 2027
April 2027 (CAT 1)
Cost: Estimated at £750 per person.
PPE will be attempting something it has never attempted before, a circumnavigation of the inner Grand Erg Orientale sand sea. This vast, remote area lies west of Qaret Ali and south of Douz, two areas PPE now knows well.
This expedition will require very well-prepared vehicles, fairly fit crew and a sense of humor to keep you going when the going gets tough…and it will. We have explored around the verge of the sand sea but never attempted to head deep into the heart of grand erg.
This will be a CAT 1 trip only and ideal for light, short-wheel base trucks. Long wheelbase trucks can also join is they are travelling as light as possible.
Dates are inclusive of arrival in Tunisia and departure after expedition. May vary slightly according to ferry sailing schedules. We will confirm dates in January 2027. Does not include transit time to and from Tunisia.

Rekkam Plateau
Morocco
20 October-03 November 2027
October 2027 (CAT 1 and CAT 2)
Cost: Estimated at £750 per person.
PPE will be returning to Morocco in 2027. We will be crossing the Atlas mountains by little-used tracks before ascending the escarpment up on to the Rekkam Plateau, which dominates eastern Morocco. These high plains feature deep wadis, spectacular rock formations, and remote Berber encampments. We will be seeking our sites of historical significance such as WWII POW camps, the site of a desperate French Foreign Legion battle and abandoned stone villages in this remote area.

Libya, Algeria 2027
2027 and Beyond (CAT 1 and CAT 2)

PPE is linking up with experienced desert operator Desartica to offer expeditions into the vast Saharan expanses of Algeria. Once our November 2026 Long Patrol reconnaissance is complete, we will immediately begin planning for return expeditions. To further expand our exploration, PPE intends to send a delegation of crews to join Desartica in western Libya expeditions to Murzuk, the location of a WWII LRDG battle.
These will be for only the most adventurous and determined crews as distances are vast and regions more remote than most will be comfortable with. But if you are one of those who just has to see what lies beyond the horizon these will be where you need to be.
