The Long Patrol -Algeria
Old Foreign Legion forts, endless sand seas, challenges and history to explore.

PPE will be attempting it’s most ambitious and challenging expedition yet. In November 2026, we will be headed deep into the heart of the Algerian Sahara on an expedition that will cover over 1000 miles of deep desert.
Supported by experienced Saharan expedition operator Desartica, we will be recceing areas that few, if any, have ever explored. This will include navigation to remote resupply cache’s, examination of old French Foreign Legion forts and following in the footsteps of early desert expeditions from the late 1800’s.
This expedition will require very well-prepared vehicles, fairly fit crew and a sense of humor to keep you going when the going gets tough…and it will.

The Sand Sea Circumnavigation
Tunisia April 2027
April 2027 (CAT 1)
Cost: Estimated at £750 per person.
PPE will be attempting something it has never attempted before, a circumnavigation of the inner Grand Erg Orientale sand sea. This vast, remote area lies west of Qaret Ali and south of Douz, two areas PPE now knows well.
This expedition will require very well-prepared vehicles, fairly fit crew and a sense of humor to keep you going when the going gets tough…and it will. We have explored around the verge of the sand sea but never attempted to head deep into the heart of grand erg.
This will be a CAT 1 trip only and ideal for light, short-wheel base trucks. Long wheelbase trucks can also join is they are travelling as light as possible.
